The much awaited movie from Megastar Mammootty hit the screen on Thursday to huge euphoria from the fans and mass movie lovers alike!

The movie starring Mammootty alongside some of the upcoming youngsters of Malayalam Cinema has been hitting the headlines for quite sometime. This big budget movie was directed by Ajai Vasudev whose debut venture Rajadiraja interestingly had Mammootty in the lead role.Scripted by Udayakrishna who is one of the finest mass movie writers around, the audience were expecting an ultimate mass entertainer when these two joined hands and the film does live up to all those expectations.

The film which is basically a campus film is set in Maharajas College where two college gangs are at war like those usual campus stories we have seen. Maqbool Salman and John Kaippalil heads these gangs at war. A murder occurs in the college and the film turns into a thriller mood from there on and how this leads to a pompous climax form the basic premise of this movie. We can see Mammootty in one of his most energetic avatar in recent times. He plays the uber cool character Edward Livingstone in the movie and enacts the role of a professor who was recently appointed to the college.

Mammootty as Eddie does bring that much needed swag which elevates the movie after a meek first 45 odd minutes of the movie. The rsst of the cast including Gokul Suresh , Maqbool, John Kaippalil, Unni Mukundan,Varalakshmi Sharathkumar,Captain Raju,Mukesh,Santhosh Pandit,Mahima Nambiar,Poonam Bajwa, etc also does carry the roles given to them with utmost honesty. Watch out for Unni Mukundan who was massive as police officer ,John Thekkan. Surely one of his best characters in recent times.

Coming to the technical department,Ajai Vasudev has shown great improvement from his debut venture Rajadiraja and has presented this seemingly outdated plot well enough to make audience actually like the movie. The movie does has its share of flaws you expect to see in a mass masala entertainer but the neat packaging and the suspense elements works big time to the relief of the viewers.

The music felt bit noisy at times and could have been better especially when considering that it was Deepak Dev who handled this department. Another highlight of the movie is its action sequences which was helmed by some of the best stunt masters like Stun Siva,Stunt Silva,Kanal Kannan, etc. Most of the action sequences has worked out well seeing the response of the audience but it is to be said that the climax fight was poorly panned out. Vinod Illampally cranked the camera and he does capture the frames neatly.

All in all, this one is a really solid entertainer for the Christmas season.Go watch it with your families and you won’t be disappointed if you enjoy mass movies which are thin on content but high on entertainment.
